Are you a teacher of writing? Are you interested in sharing your practices and learning from others? Are you ready to continue your educational journey? Are you ready to be a teacher leader? Teachers of writing in any discipline and with any age level (K-16) are invited to apply for the annual Red Cedar Writing Project Invitational Summer Institute on the campus of MSU.

Throughout the ISI teachers will demonstrate promising approaches to writing instruction, focus on their own writing skills, participate in writing groups, identify questions they have related to the teaching and practice of writing, and engage in reading that expands their understandings of literacy pedagogies, policies, and research.

At the conclusion of the ISI, teachers are identified as RCWP Teacher Consultants (TCs)and NWP Teacher Leaders—a credential recognized in all 50 states and nine foreign countries. TCs are frequently invited to design and conduct workshops on teaching reading and writing for their own districts and to be presenters for other school districts. They are also asked to be part of various RCWP community and school programs, grant opportunities, and ongoing research and writing opportunities.

Several outstanding teachers of writing will be selected to participate in our annual Invitational Summer Institute (ISI). TCs receive a small stipend as well as the various texts used during the ISI.
